AGM – Australian Board – Hobart 2012

The summary of the proceedings at the Annual Meetiung.

The Annual General Meeting of the Australian Board was held on 18th August 2012 at Hutchins school, Sandy Bay, Hobart, Tasmania.

The meeting was chaired by the President, Prof. Ian Olver. The special guest of the Board was Mr. Sunny Philip, who was representing the Director of CMC Vellore. Sunny has worked in the Chaplaincy Department at CMC many years ago and at present is involved in a project which takes him to India often and he spends almost six months of the year over there, quite a good part of it at Vellore.

The meeting opened with devotions by Sunny followed by a report in which he presented the recent developments at CMC. There was a lively discussion which followed, during which he was able to give us some in depth understanding of the various happenings in and around CMC.

The minutes of the last AGM held on August 21st 2011 at Brisbane, Queensland was presented and accepted.

The President Prof Ian Olver presented in his report about the successful update of our website. He  mentioned about the healthy relationship between the alumni and the FOV in Australia and how we are hoping to make use of this association to build up FOV branches in WA and Northern Territory.

He also mentioned about his last visit to Vellore and the recent developments at Chittor campus. He has been in contact with the newly elected Director Sunil Chandy who has reiterated his intentions to visit us for the next years AGM.

The various state representatives presented their annual reports on their activities and financial balance sheets. Richard Caitens presented the treasurers report. During the year 2011/12, the Board sent a total of $200,000.00 to CMC Vellore, 30% of which was for designated projects nominated by the donors.

Publicity officer Stephen Aseervatham in his report mentioned about the upgrading of the website. He was hoping to work on the long awaited and very much needed ?information brochure? (to replace the last one which was published in 1995) to reflect the changes and advances which has taken place in CMC since then.

All Office Bearers agreed to stand for re-election ? they were all elected unopposed.

There was quite a bit of enthusiasm and excitement about the next year?s AGM which was planned to coincide with the annual gathering of the Australian Alumni  in Darwin, Northern Territory  during the weekend of 16 ? 17 the of August 2013. The Director of CMC will be in attendance.

The President thanked all those present for taking part in the 2012 Annual General Meeting; in particular he thanked Sunny Philip for contributing to the Meeting with such an interesting and informative address. He also thanked Jeanette Hyland and the Tasmanian branch of the FOV for their kind and generous hospitality.
